Overnight Asian stocks declined on poor Chineses economic news and the European markets were little changed. Last week's uneventful start to the trading year could be followed by more of the same today. The holiday week that led to low volumes and thin trading ranges has been replaced by winter storms and sub zero weather across the country. Look for lower than normal trade volumes as some US traders are once again sidelined. Trade strong.
The major averages closed out Friday on a rather flat note. The March S&P was off by -1.10 settling at 1825.30. The Dow was up +28.64 at 16469.99 and the Nasdaq ended down -11.16 at 4131.91. February WTI was also off by -1.48 closing at 93.96. Friday's volumes were stronger than the previous few days but still on the low side.
