After six straight positive sessions the markets took a breather on Wednesday. The equity indices started the day in the red with the Nasdaq leading the way down -34.49 to settle at 4126.97. Although the Dow and S&P both ended the session lower they closed near their flatline. Down -12.72 and -4.16 respectively.

Overnight the Asian markets closed with mixed results and the European indices are all pushing higher in midsession trade. Both Apple (APPL) and Facebook (FB) reported strong earnings after the close yesterday pushing US stock futures higher going into today's session. Today will be a busy day on the earnings front. So far we've heard from General Motors (GM), UPS (UPS) and Caterpillar (CAT). Microsoft (MSFT), Starbucks (STUX), Amazon (AMZN) and Baidu (BIDU) are slated to report after the close. On the economic report front traders will get a look at the always volatile initial claims and durable orders at 7:30 AM CT. Trade strong.
