Overnight the Asian and European markets were weaker across the board. Today traders will get the info on two months of construction spending and they'll also be listening for the weekend retail shopping results. By all indications it was a strong weekend for retailers and that could give some strength to the market. This week we'll see the nonfarm payrolls on Friday. That can make for a thin trading week. Added to the fact is we're at the beginning of the holiday season and Big Daddy will have a meeting later this month. Trade strong.

Volumes were extremely light Friday but the equities closed out the holiday shortened week on a strong note. S&P's were up 0.1% for the week and 2.8%for the month closing at 1804.10. The holiday shopping season appeared off to a strong start, and that gave some additional cheer to the markets on Friday.
